Jackson is a three year old Doxie/ Spaniel mixture who needs an experienced Doxie owner. He is a bit dominant, we are working on it. Loves submissive dogs and scratches. Not a fan of the crate but needs to learn clear boundaries so it is the best tool for it. He is playful and cute ( I have a resident that looks identical). He has a little bit of a weight issue which is important to address in the breed as their bones can't handle being overweight well. He will be with me for a week before he can go to a new home, applications are being accepted now if you think you are the person that can help him become the happy well loved little guy he deserves to be. All SAAP dogs and pups are veterinarian checked, UTD on vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and given flea and heart worm preventatives as age appropriate. Say hey to Ruthie, a 4-5 mnth old, seventeen pound Minimum Pin/Dachshund/anyone's guess sweetie!!!! Ruthie was rescued by an elderly woman when she saw her so called owner throwing rocks at her head, while she was tied to a tree. This individual was attempting to get her to fight but she refused to do so and doesn't have a mean bone in her body!!! She is incredibly sweet and loves being with her people. Ruthie gets along good with other dogs and is adorable with kids. She has a lot of energy so she enjoys playing but also loves to cuddle too. Ruthie is working hard on housebreaking. She is also good in her crate when we are away. If you would like to meet her, please email XXXX@gmail.com.

There is nothing cuter than a Dachshund/Beagle mixture sporting the head tilt! PUPPY (yes, that is her name) is a 1.5yr old, 16 pound, ball of snuggles. There is nothing more that Puppy loves than to be held and loved on! Puppy was surrendered with three other dogs because the owner became overwhelmed. She is crate trained and good on a leash. And just like any hound, her nose is always to the ground because there are just so many interesting smells! Puppy loves other dogs and is afraid of cats. She has some playfulness in her and would love to have either another dog or some older children to play with. Can you give this this cute girl the home she would love? E-mail XXXX@gmail.com if you'd like to meet this happy girl.

Tonic is a doxie mixture who's a wee bit bigger than your average dox, weighing in around 25 lbs! Tonic has has a rough life so far & came to saap very underweight and very afraid. He takes a little time to warm up to humans, but once he does, he is a total LOVE BUG! Tonic will need a patient family to adopt him and commit to his recovery. He still has a little weight to gain and is learning everyday how to be a normal dog! He doesn't have a clue what a leash is and is still working on his house breaking, but if you ask me, he is totally worth the work! Tonic is nice with other dogs & cats but would do best in a home with out little kids since he is still skittish around sudden movements or loud noises. He would also do best with a fenced in yard, since he does not do well on a leash yet. Tonic is waiting patiently for that perfect family who will help his grow and blossom in the sweet dog I know he is! If you think you could be that special home, fill out an app on our website www.adoptastray.com

Chester is a 10yr old Dachshund who was turned in by his owners in a neglected state. His nails were curled under and touching his paw pads, he needed dental work and he was obese at a whopping 27 lbs. This sweet boy has seen our veterinarian and had the necessary dental extractions done. It's obvious by his excitement for life that he now feels so much better. He has slimmed down to #22 but would like to get down to around a more youthful #18. He is currently on a diet of Nature's Balance Duck and Potato limited ingredient dry dog food which has helped with allergy symptoms that he was experiencing when 1st entering his foster home. He is quite spunky so don't let the grey face fool you! He is quite active and he enjoys outdoor walks and even running around the house when the mood strikes him. In his down time he absolutely loves to burrow under blankets. In fact he is a blanket thief.
